OK folks, I've had an idea. Since it seems clear that we're all interested and care about our fellow poster's life's, how about we have a thread devoted to sharing who we are and what makes us tick? Many of us have learned enough about each other to know that we're all "our type of people", but why not share what you think might spark interest and get us chatting? There doesn't seem to be many of us left now so this section might be fairly tight to begin with but lets get chatting and see what happens? You don't need to be specific. perhaps only go into as much detail as roughly where your from and what you like to do. Also, I'd advise that we all feel free to ask questions about our fellow's "lists" and post updates/additions to your own whenever you feel like it. Here goes... - 23 - Engineer - UK - Obviously a LOTR freak. -- TTT being my fave book, FOTR being fave film. -- Relate to Boromir for whatever reason. - Learning to play acoustic guitar. -- Rock and Indie so far. -- Slow progress due to insistence on singing while playing. - Video game nut --own hi-spec PC and PS2 (will get a PS3 when there are good games released) -- Love online First-Person Shooters and Role-Play Games - About to start archery classes but need 6 Saturday mornings to complete course. - Star Wars Fanboy -- Have begun construction of a full metal suit of Jango Fett armour. -- Have never been beaten in a drunken "trivia-off" - Aspiring Stuntman -- partake in "professionally" instructed classes -- practice acrobatics, weapon based stage fighting and martial arts. -- current injuries : bruised sternum, fractured ribs, slipped Lombard disk. - Political cove -- young trade union leader. -- recently returned from Japan. -- off to Pittsburgh at the end of the week. - Anime obsesive -- Love Hina, Gundam and Ghost in the Shell all faves. I think the format works but just go nuts! do what you like or tell me cease this despirate attempt to make myself more interesting ![;)](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Hannah22/Fourm/wink.gif) GET POSTING! This is a good idea, AG, now that there are so few of us....
That's very cool that you're teaching yourself guitar. Indie rock is my favorite. Are you hoping to become a professional stuntman, or is it just a hobby? I studied stage combat briefly, but it was nothing intense enough to result in bruised sterna. ____________________________________________________
-18 -English major at an all-women liberal arts school -Massachussetts for school, Colorado for vacs -Lord of the Rings things --I didn't even dream of reading the books until I saw the first film (I know...) --Joined the Ringers (which then merged with LotR Forum, which then became the Fifth Age) in 2002, if I remember correctly --Book V is my favorite book; 'Fellowship' is my favorite film --Faramir is my favorite character --Took a very enlightening course on Tolkien last spring -Also a massive Harry Potter geek (which is where most of my fannish activity is being directed these days) --I dress up as Hermione Granger whenever the opportunity presents itself --I live with two likewise huge fans of the books, which means our decor has a decidely Hogwartsian bent --Perhaps it's just an effect of reading too much queer literature (E.M. Forster is my favorite novelist), but I'm wholly convinced that Remus Lupin and Sirius Black are gay -Literature is my life --Aside from above, am particularly fond of Shakespeare, 20th C. Irish literature, and Romantic poetry --Also regularly read dictionaries and guides to English grammar --Had to convert part of my closet into bookshelves to hold the overflow from my school-issued bookcase --A firm believer in writing in one's books --Harbor dreams of doing my Master's Degree at Newnham College, Cambridge University --Plan to teach once I run out of degrees to pursue -Tea addict --Until February, I had a ten-cup-a-day habit --Have worked my way down to two or three cups per day --Peppermint is my favorite (and in case there are any tea snobs here: yes, I know it's not really tea) -Theatrical whatnot --I'm currently Assistant Director for 'Diary of a Madman' by Nicolai Gogol, going up in two weeks --My favorite role was Abby Brewster in 'Arsenic and Old Lace' last autumn - a sweet, proper, charitable old woman who spends her free time poisoning her houseguests --The best production I've ever seen was the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream in June -Other pursuits --Have recently taken up contra dancing, which is a type of community dance (popular with the 40-to-60-year-old set) based on traditional English and American folk dance. It's very informal, very lively, and one of the best ways I know to spend a Friday night --Speak French fluently; am learning Latin --Classical history is another big interest --Work at a living history site in the summers, which involves me wearing Edwardian clothing and doing my hair in a Gibson-girl pompadour, giving tours of a beautiful 1907 house, and recreating 1907-appropriate activities (cooking, sewing, cleaning, etc.) for the observation of park visitors

You guys have much classier pursuits than me with all your tea drinking, proper singing lessons and theatrical whatnotery. I used to do lots of singing when I was a kid. Choirs, opera and a band before I just sorta... stopped! now I'm trying to get it back AND get some guitar in as well. I get half decent after a few beers but the illusion's shattered as soon as I try to play with a hang-over. #it was all a wonderful dream...# the stunt classes are more for fun than anything else. and to get in shape too. I have a friend from Hong Kong who's an actor/stuntman/bouncer (depending on how in demand he is). he got me onto the idea then I learned through another martial artsy type friend about an ex-milktray man who's holding lessons. its pretty cool but iv been out for about a month injured. it'll be another couple of weeks before I can go back and all it took was a minor distraction mid-backflip. pretty embarrassing really. still, to look at me, you'd never guess i could even get half way to some of the stunts I've been pulling. I'm a big guy and its atleast part muscle! woop! and Lomadia. a fellow dresser upper eh? I was at a convention recently but all the potterite girls seemed to want to dress as Harry. interesting. I find myself amongst friends on these occasions, dressed as stormtroopers. one good friend regularly wears his full armour down to the pub! as soon as my jango's finished, I'll be there too. blasters and all. and you've hit the nail on the head with the Remus Lupin and Sirius Black bit! ooo, tattoos! I cant choose between these two... xaonon.dyndns.org/logos/starwars/imperial.pngwww.bobafett.com/manual/iconography/shoulder-symbol.jpgok, ok. get both I know! which one first though? which will get the coveted right upper arm/shoulder?? I'm a bit late here, but I'll do one. Though my life is decidedly boring. -Youngest active member (how old is Ania?) at 17 -Read the books and saw the Ralph Bakshi rotoscoped films at a young age, but interest was intensely renewed after the first Peter Jackson film came out. -I have two cats, one of whom weighs about 25 lbs. (classified by the vet as Morbidly Obeise) and one loving dog, a boxer/pit bull/mastiff mix with a heart of gold. -Music --One the one hand, my major pursuit is Power Metal and other forms of metal, bands such as Kamelot and Blind Guardian and Manowar --My tastes are fairly diverse; I like a lot of hippie stuff (Beatles, Hawkwind, H.P. Lovecraft, Grateful Dead) and some indie (Manic Street Preachers, Editors) and even punk (Dresden Dolls!) --I'm damned good at the clarinet -American high school student about to complete my junior year, which is the one right before the last --No plans for college --I really enjoy chemistry and literature. An odd mix, but just read some Coleridge. Or Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde ![;)](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Hannah22/Fourm/wink.gif) -Hobbies --Used to play Magic: The Gathering frequently --Reading sci-fi and playing video games --Experimenting with new substances (what's known affectionately as a "drug geek") --MMORPGs -Anime --Martian Successor Nadesico, Cowboy Bebop, I love Ghost in the Shell (both movies and the series), Hellsing --Have convinced my girlfriend to dress as a catgirl complete with ears, dyed hair, tiara, fangs, and even tail! It wasn't easy. -Learning French, making pretty good progress. Want to learn Sindarin/Quenya. -My father's father was Mussolini's personal bodyguard. My great uncle is a midget and played Cousin It on the Addams Family, the Ewok on Star Wars who flew the hang glider, and also the little robot called Twiki on Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. -Prefer Earl Grey tea.

Well, if it makes you feel better, I haven't had a serious boyfriend. Period. Ever. And I'm all right with it.
Your nursing aspirations sound very cool (and totally over my head).
