Okay this is the place to talk about the movie Boromir. Anything about the movie Boromir, even comparing him to the book Boromir.

I think movie Boromir is a little too much obsessed with the Ring. I think the book gives a better and more well-rounded picture of Boromir, especially when he is in Lothlorien. Just some of my thoughts. ![;)](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Hannah22/Fourm/wink.gif)

People who only know Tolkien from the movies most likely see Boromir as a jerk. And they probably see the point of his character being only to show what effect the ring has on men. I don't like Jackson's version of the characters.

I don't like Jackson's version of the characters. Actually...this from a person who have read and have been a fan of Tolkien's books before the movie was out - I think Jackson improved Boromir's character. Boromir, in the books - I think he has that jerky kinda guy that it's like "I told you so" or "We SHOULD'VE...." Movie Boromir gave me the impression of "We could've passed...." or "There is no burden upon you without the doubt in which it will always be achieved. This I can aid you in..." <---dunno where that last one came from. And all together - it's more visible at how the Ring has an affect on him - in the books, you can say "He was obsessed with the Ring" and well there you go! He's obsessed with the Ring - he's a bad guy. The movie isn't like that, it shows two sides to that conflict.

Kitoky - this is a little ironic. I see it as quite the opposite. I see the book as showing the full aspect of Boromir and the movie obsesses too much on the Ring and not enough on his loyalty to his country, etc.

Well one can only state the opinion in which he follows. We may not agree with each other - but atleast we're not biting our heads off.

Well at least we both agree that we like Boromir ;D.
What did you think about Sean Bean playing Boromir? Do you think PJ choose well?

I've always been a Sean Bean fan. And I was happy to see him in the cast. Especially as my favorite character. ![:)](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Hannah22/Fourm/smiley.gif)

I just now reading the books so i haven't meant the book Boromir, but in the movie It didn't seem to me that he was ring obsessed only, it seemed clear to me that he thought the ring would help and his country. thought it was well acted. and if i had my way he would of lived.

I liked movie Boromir better and the book Boromir - to me, was arrogant, and to himself.
A quote from the last few chapters of the Fellowship -
That sounds like someone who is arrogant would say.

LOL Kitoky!
I take that line as being cautious. He had always heard rumours about the forest (Lothlorien) and whoever went in, never came out. Now he meets the rulers. I would have been suspicious too.
I relate so much to Boromir because I would probably do the things he does. I would always been asking quesitons, double-checking, etc.
I love Sean Bean playing Boromir. I think they did a good job of choosing him. Although, I had always pictured Boromir as being a bit more stout, not fat but thicker, more burlier.

I agree that the above quote is probably mostly influenced by legends told in Gondor (and Rohan) that grew out of lack of understanding for the Elves. However, I think it should also be noted that Faramir does not share Boromir's mistrust of the Galadhrim. Perhaps because Boromir bears more military responsibility than Faramir, he has become a somewhat less trusting person. I think that Sean Bean played Boromir wonderfully. I was particularly touched by the scene he shares with Boromir in Lothlorien, speaking of his unlimited love for his country. And I actually found his death scene to be an improvement on Tolkien's version. Although Faramir says that Boromir must have accepted Aragorn as his king, Tolkien, never shows Boromir really playing the part of Steward to Aragorn. The film version made Boromir's last action not an admission of failure, but a beautiful acceptance of duty. Elen sila lumenn omentilmo, Lomadia
