Heritage can involve many things: where you were born, where you have lived, where your ancestors lived, et cetera. What are your roots, and how do they play a part in your life? For example, do you have ethnic holiday traditions or a favorite regional food from your childhood? Anything about heritage is game.

My birth father was adopted from Romania, but I was adopted from my birth parents by the perfectly wonderful Ryan family.

I'm glad that worked out for you, just goes to show there are good people who adopt. I'm sure we've all seen our fair share of White Oleander stories.
I'm an interesting - and inebriating - mix of (wait for it) Italian and Irish! Hurrah for the Italian blood, too, because the light tan is one of the few things I have going for my looks.
Minor parts German and Scottish as well.

I'm pretty sure I'm a little of everything if you go back far enough.
Part Irish and Greek but mostly old English.

I recently found out the other half of my heritage. Apparently along with Romanian I am Polish and Canadian Indian, which I think is very cool.

That's very cool, Ania. Do you have any idea where in Canada (I did a very little research on some of Canada's tribes for a creative paper last year)?
I'm Irish on my father's side, and Hungarian on my mother's side, though both my parents were born in the States themselves. I enjoy learning about both cultures, but I'm much more knowledgeable about the history, arts, and character of the Irish than I am of the Hungarians.

no I don't know where in Canada. My real (adoptive) parents have very little info about my birth parents.

Beren, you have one more thing going and it's the thing I said you could put in a bottle and sell! And there you have it!...Oh,and all I know of my mother's dad is that he was Danish, and when he was 5,his father killed himself...not very cheery. My family tree is a blank before him,but my mom was always told there was a bit of Danish/German Gypsies in the blend.

Very cool. Being part gypsy would be stellar. This is random, but I know someone who's great something-or-other was Marie Antionette.

I recently found out I'm a direct relative of this gentleman on my mother's side. Slightly unsettling reading if I'm honest. Especially when you consider my agnosticism. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Rigby_(saint)

Wow. I think my most impressive relative is Paris Hilton, who is far from a saint, in more ways than one. And even that isn't a blood relation.

Heh - I wish! I'm a much more distant relative than that. Something like her great-grandfather was originally married to my great-aunt.
