Wow. ![:o](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Hannah22/Fourm/shockers.gif) I know one that's kinda long, but not as long as the last. I learned it from an essay I had to do on flourine for science class. Flourochlorohydrocarbons. XD My English teacher showed the class a word that was literally a page long, but there's no way I remember it. O__O

I did a dictionary.com search and they didn't like this spelling: pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanikoniosis
but instead recommended this one: pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis
Definition: supposedly the longest word in a dictionary, an artificial word said to mean a lung disease caused by the inhalation of silica dust
When I did a search for the first word, I didn't get much information (3 hits), just that it was mentioned in a couple forum posts on other sites.
Then I looked up the way dictionary.com spelled it and got many more hits (8,920).
=========
Superkalafragilisticexpealadocious gave me 14 hits and nothing on dictionary.com
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (spelled according to my Mary Poppins 40th Anniversary DVD) gave me 64,600 hits
dictionary.com's Definition: an adjective meaning a nonsense word meaning fantastic; also called supercalifragilistic; popularized by the movie Mary Poppins

Hey, I posted the word, arn't I aloud to say what it means? Jk. Well, I knew what it meant without haveing to look it up. In fact, you could break the word apart and find out what it means: Pnumono - a pnumonic deseise (sp) is one that has to do with lungs or breathing ultra - well duh: very, or quite microscopic - Veeeery small silico - an element, a main ingrediant in salt, but poisinous in and of itself volcano - ok, who doesn't know what a volcano is? coni - grr... I don't remember... osis - what these last two mean. I should remember... grr. ![:(](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Hannah22/Fourm/sad.gif) So anyways, it is a lung desise (I really need help with that word ![:-/](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Hannah22/Fourm/nottoosure.gif) ) that you get from inhailing volcanic dust that contains silicon. And Eru, I did spell it right. If you look up at my first post, it's spelled the way you said the dictionary prefered. ![:P](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Hannah22/Fourm/tongue.gif)

Do place names count ?
This is the longest place name in the UK
Gorsafawddachaidraigddanheddogleddollonpenrhynareurdraethceredigion.
all 67 characters of it , don't ask me to pronounce it though .It is Welsh and means
" The Mawddach station and its dragon teeth at the northen Penryhn Road on the golden beach of Cardigan Bay ." It was a name contrived by the Fairbourne Steam Railway , Gwynedd North Wales for publicity purposes and in order to out do it's rival :
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. 58 characters
This is the place in Gwynedd ,North Wales famed especially for the length of it's railway tickets . it means :
" St Mary's Church in the hollow of the white hazel near to the rapid whirlpool of the church of St Tysilo near the red cave ."
However questions have been raised about it's authenticity ,since it's official name comprises only the first 20 of the 58 characters and the full name appears to have been invented as a hoax in the 19th century by a local tailor .
