Which weapons do you all find most intriguing? Which one is your favorite? Why?
I think the Orcish scimitars are interesting, only because I know so little about them. I admit, I like Arwen's sword from the movie. ;D It's neat because it has no hilt like other sword, and it also has writing on it.

Arwen had a sword?
I like the sword of the Nazgul! And Herugrim, the sword of King Théoden!
Mostly, I like Sarumans Staff! Staffs are so much more unusual then swords...

Well yeah, in the movie she did. I think I pointed that out. ![:P](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Hannah22/Fourm/tongue.gif) Longswords are neat too.

I like the Elvish or Dwarvish blades, because they have different properties other than other-made swords.

I wonder what it would be like to be stabbed by a Morgul blade. Well....no, I don't really, but I still wonder what it feels like....in a way. ![???](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Hannah22/Fourm/question.gif)

I think I understand what you mean Goblinglow. You actually don't want to get stabbed, but you want to know the feeling.

*nods* And to think that one could become a Ringwraith just by being stabbed by one. I bet the nine kings might have felt the same experience when they fell under the rule of Sauron, but then, who knows? ![???](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Hannah22/Fourm/question.gif)

I think my favorite is by far the bow, just because, well, I don't know. It's cool. But I am acctually trying to make my own bow. I read somewhere how 2, but I don't remember where, I know it was a fiction book though. Anyways, yah, ya do kinda wonder what a morgal blade feels like exept cold, that word was used a lot in the book. It would also b kinda fun 2 use daggers.

A morgul blade....hmmm....Just think of the coldest cold you can think of....like something so cold your tongue or lips would stick to it and not come off. Think of a blade like that piercing, slicing, and penetrating your body and the tip of it breaking off inside of you and that same cold staying there! **Shudder!** I love the carvings and etchings on some of the Elvish blades in the movies. They really look elegant and mysterious. The way the Elves handle them and use them seems so effortless and swift, too. But my FAVORITE weapons are those of the Rohirrim. I love the horses and the celtic knots on the weapons and Meduseld, the Golden Hall. I particularly like Herugrim. I like that the hilt and handle form themselves onto the sword blade rather than stick out perpendicular to it like swords of the other races. ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v159/TolkiensRing/Stormriders%20IMGs/KCSword.gif)

I know very little about weaponry (but am very intrigued by it). I think longswords are very beautiful objects because of their simplicity, archaic and enigmatic air, and mystical aspect (with the symbolism of the Cross). As far as the Lord of the Rings goes, I'll say I like Boromir's sword the best. The image of him in his funeral boat is so strong in my mind, and the sword is essential to that heroic image. Or perhaps Eowyn's sword. My father owns a longsword and a dagger that he won in a Scottish games competition, and though they're technically his, I'm by far the family member who gets the most enjoyment out of them (don't worry- they mostly stay up on the wall most of the time, and both are blunt, and the longsword is a ceremonial sword that would be much too difficult to wield in any case). But both are beautifully crafted- very authentic-looking, and made from iron rather than steel. So I like to pretend, geek that I am, that they are Eowyn's sword and Merry's barrow-sword from the confrontation with the Witch-king, another scene that I see very clearly in my mind. Well I like bows the "best", just because the ones wielding them look so so smooth and cool during it. One thing about Hadhafang, Arwen's sword. Isn't it quite uncomfortable not having a hilt? I mean, more dangerous?

My favorite weapons would be a bow(I am also in the process of making one... just have to get the stuff!), Hadhafang-Arwen's sword, longswords, daggers. I have a reproduction of Aragorn's-"Strider" sword. Don't EVER i mean EVER get anything from Pakistan!!! It is not worth your money!

Hi,
I’m studying media at college and am also a lotr fan. I have been asked to talk to other fans about certain issues regarding the books and films. If at all possible, would you mind answering/debating a few of these issues.
I am looking into representation of women in both the books and films and i would like to know your thoughts on this.
Would you agree that certain women influence key male figures such as Aragorn etc?
Why do you think that Liv Tyler was cast the role of Arwen and do you think she would have been better suited as Galadriel or Eowyn?
What are your thoughts on Lady Goldberry not being included in the film and do you think this detracts from the film in any way?
Any other key moments that particularly appeal to you concerning the three central women.
Any comments will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Feel free to email me at Lizci_90@hotmail.com
