Do you think Melkor got a raw deal from the start, Manwe and Melkor were like brothers in the thought of Iluvatar, but Manwe was dearest in Iluvatars heart. And why make seven Lords and Seven Queens and leave Melkor by himself, do you think he was on the outside looking in from the start, It is said to each Iluvatar gave a piece of his mind, so was a piece of his mind evil that he gave to Melkor.

ZUM BAH
I don't think Melkor got a bad deal. Does a tate worm or pubic lice get a bad deal ? It is in their very esscence to be just what they are !!!
Melkor was created to be an "adversary". Remember that with perfection you also have stagnation.
Through get adversity, we rise to be greater than what we were meant to be.
Melkor was (and might yet be again) the greatest of all the Valar, his purpose was to unite, challenge and lift all creation in an eternal struggle against him.
Always remember that when you clasp a rose to smell it's scent. The thorn that pricks your skin......that was he. ;D
oh well tooddle peep

Tolkien unintentionally made Melkor represent Lucifer/satan from the Bible. Like, Satan, Morgoth, rebelled against Eru Illuvatar (God). So its Bauglir's own fault he was evil (he himself desired more power).

I was always kind of curious about this.
My opinion:
Melkor was good for maybe a second (no, not literally) but I think he had it in him to control and try to conquor (sp?) from the start.

I did no such thing, I simply wanted power, why should Ilúvatar have all of the power? The Valar? *spits* they are weak, they do not realize what is neccasary to succed in this world
