Chapter One:
The Creation of Arda
In the begining, Eru, The One, created the Ainur of his own though. The Ainur mad a great Music before Eru. This Music became The Music of the World, in which three themes were placed by Eru. Each theme, but the last, which was a simple, but great, cord by Eru himself, was tainted by the interweavings of Melkor (Later to be known as Morgoth, Sauron's Ruler). After the third theme all music ended, and Iluvantar (Eru) led the Ainur to the far reaches of The Void and gave them a vision when, before there was only hearing. This vision was of the world. However, after a while, this vision faded but Eru said to them "I know that the desire of your minds that ye have seen should verily be, not only in your thought, but even as ye yourselves are, and yet other. Thefore I say : Eä! let these things Be! And I will send forth into the Void the Flame Imperishable, and it shall be at the heart of the World, and the World shall Be; and those of you that will may go down into it." After these words the Ainur suddenly saw afar off light, a cloud with a living heart of flame, and they knew that this was no vision, but Eru had made Eä, the World that Is. So it was that Iluvantar gave the Ainur, that desired it, leave to desecend to Eä and dwell there while becoming the life of it and it their life. Upon reaching the grounds the Valar, as they were called from then on for it means the Powers of the World, found it to be incomplete and unshapped. Through their labors they then crafted the World, the chief part being taken by Manwë, Aulë, and Ulmo; yet Melkor stuck his hand in all that was done, turning if he could all things to his purpose.
It came to pass that Melkor claimed the world of his own during the young days of Arda, and began a strife with the other Valar. Through those days of struggle the earth was hardened.
So ends the installment of the Creation. If any have questions, please do ask them, for there are things that I left out for the sake of not making this a lenghty post. Beyond that, I hope you enjoyed the First Chapter of the Book of Lore.
