It's kind of a curious subject to discuss. Because, Faramir really could have been pushed to take the Ring due to his father's....influence on him. Maybe Frodo couldn't (or wouldn't) have pursuaded Faramir to let him go, cause Faramir wouldn't have had Frodo as a captive if he were in the Fellowship.
Now in the book, I think, Faramir probably wouldn't have caused Frodo as much trouble as Boromir. In the book, he seemed a bit more understanding of the nature of the Ring, so I think maybe he could've been tempted to take the Ring, but would have done what he did in the book; let Frodo go. Or, in the case of the Fellowship, leave him alone.

I am not exactly sure how it would have ended out, I see both good and bad endings, but I am sure about one thing. FARAMIR WOULD NOT HAVE TAKEN THE RING! He wanted his fathers love, yes. But incase you forgot he let Frodo and Sam go, and did not take the ring. In fact he aided them. That is why I am positive he was wise enough, (unlike Boromir) to see the ring could not help Gondor.
