Who are your top 3 favourite LotR Book characters? Why?
I really like SAM. (go figure) Then there is HAMA. I loved how he stood his ground with Aragorn and Gandalf. I was upset when he died. My favourite would have to be BOROMIR. I cried when he fell victim to the Ring and at his funeral. Well those are mine. Although I also like Faramir, Aragorn, Elrond, and Celeborn, too. So many good and well-written characters to choose from.

My favorite character is, no doubt, FARAMIR!!!! Since i've read his name on the books... And, the second one is Sam! Just like you,Ilúvatar!! He is a real HERO!!! The ring was destroyed because Sam never gave up, and he helped Frodo very much And,finally, the third one is Pippin! Because he is always doing foolish things....and he's fun!!!! ;D

Imrahil of Dol Amroth, the only man with courage in Gondor(aside from Gandalf) during the Siege of the Pelenor fields.
Elessar Telcontar, a truly torn charector, the choice, shun the kingdom and take the easy way out, or take the paths of the Dead, take up Narsil and chalenge Sauron.
Theoden son of Thingol, such a kingly man, kind and generous, yet firm and mighty, one who will help his friends on a moments notice.

I have to pick three you say? Alright, here they are. I shall even give you my top three from each of the three parts and The Silm.
FotR: 1) Gandalf - He is the man in my mind, from LotR series that is. Mithrandir is a man of so much passion and ambition that I feel he is the driving force that starts the whole story. 2) Elrond - My dear naive Elrond. So full of power and knowledge, though lagging in the wisdom of the present time. Too, without the leadership and help of the old Elf the Fellowship would never have been formed, in my opinion that is. 3) The Balrog - Shadow and fire. For a lover of night with a pyro hidden inside The Balrog is something that one must love. Not to mention the ability to challenge an Istari in battle.
TTT: 1) Gandalf - Again, yes I know, but I cheered aloud when he returned. 2) Theoden - After awakening from his spell, with Olorin's help I might add, Theoden is one of the most brave and caring characters. 3) Aragorn - The ultimate warrior and king. Knowledge, wisdom, strength of will, courage, and a just heart all rolled into one here.
RotK: 1) Gandalf - Yep, you guessed it 2) Sauron - Without this vile spirit the story would have no force behind it. Why, then, did I not put him with the other three? Because he is not as aparant in them as he is in the final installment. 3) Aragorn - The strength and responisbility to take up the kingship is one that I had been waiting for since their enterance into Gondor.
The Silm: 1) Eru - The God of Gods. Without him none of this wonderful history could be. With that in mind how could he not be number one? 2) Melkor - Power through lies and deciet, unlike the stereotypical strength in arms/power. Melkor's strength in arms came only through his lies and the fear that he caused. Much like Sauron, without Melkor there would be very little force in the 'bible', it would all be happy go lucky and boring. 3) Feanor - Master craftsman and a leader. Truly he is just someone that seems to be much like myself in his own mind, though I am less selfish.
Overall (finally eh?): 1)Gandalf 2)Eru 3)Sauron

1.Boromir, Gondor's greatest General- already explained enough times why i like him. 2.Smeagal/Gollum(Slinker/Stinker)- I really loved how his character developed and how he tried to resist the ring and be just Smeagal but was ultimately impossible. 3.Aragorn-the king that avoided becoming king all his life. The man who led all the good men to the last battle at the black gate.

Gandalf- I like how he's shown in the beginning and in the hobbit to just be sort of a mysterious magician kind of guy, and then when the war of the ring breaks out he ends up the greatest leader of all time.
Sam-definitely the most heroic character. he's a simple hobbit but his will remains strong through the darkest times, and his loyalty to frodo is stronger than any of the men to their kings.
Treebeard- he's just awsome. he's a tree, but he talks and walks and crushes orcs. And he's not too hasty. I like that.

fotr 1)haldir - "a dwarf breathes so loud we could've shot him in the dark 2)galadriel - creepy...but cool! 3)sauron - you gotta give this dude credit! he took out about 20 men with each ax-swing
ttt 1)haldir again - came to the rescue 2)eomer - stood up to worm 3)a (book).sam - saved the friggin' ring! b (movie). treebeard - "don't be hasty!" so hilarious!

1) Samwise Gamgee - One of my most favorite characters from anything I have ever read or seen in my lifetime. I love his devotion, his courage, and how his motivation for destroying the ring seems to be so he can get back to the Shire so things can be normal again.
2) Gandalf - The backbone of the story. Without him all hope for good to prevail in Middle-Earth would have been for naught. Though a Maia in spirit, he still makes mistakes, showing that even he is not perfect.
3) Tom Bombadil - I think the reason I love this character so much is that there is so mystery to him. He cares not to toil with the conflicts of men and elves, and claims to be the eldest being. He chooses the simple life, of tending to the forest and showing love to his wife. He seems to have a lot of power and a lot of knowledge, yet chooses not to use it to help either side of the war. It is as though he is just watching the story of the world unfold in front like a movie, waiting for the end.
