This is the place to talk about the movie Faramir. Anything about the movie Faramir, even comparing him to the book Boromir.
Did you like him, hate him? Do you think he was a character PJ could have left out? What do you think about movie Faramir?

Book Faramir was intimidating but man! Movie Faramir just stared at Frodo like he was a piece of meat...before the EE of course.

I think Jackson's Faramir was not to my liking in comparison to Tolkien's Faramir. I don't think he should have been tempted by the Ring. But I guess it's not that big of a deal. Faramir's interpretation is a lot better than Boromir's in my opinion at least.

I think PJ's interpretation of Faramir leaves out a few MAJOR points that Tolkien wrote. Faramir was never tempted by the Ring. He was above that. He was noble, had a very romantic air. I do wish they would have shown more of him in the theatrical release. The Extended version gives him a little more credit, but not enough for me. I did like the scences between Faramir and Boromir. I thought they were played well. Boromir and Faramir did love each other despite their father, Denethor. Just some of my thoughts. I'm sure I will have more after I see RotK .

Yes I agree that Faramir should not have been depicted as a person who wanted the ring. In the movie it seemed as if he wanted it badly.(Most likely to prove his worth to his father.)

I like the Faramir of the film but the only thing that is wrong is (like you all already said) the fact that he is not tempt by the one ring! And, in the movie, it seems like he's really interested to keep it!

Movie Faramir seems to have an obsession of wanting to please his father, Denethor. Where I see Book Faramir as sad that his father doesn't show the same respect for him as Boromir, but not obsessed with it.

[shadow=teal,left,300]I liked book Faramir and I think PJ made Faramir look like a jerk. When I read the books I pictured him as being friendly but quiet. Movie Faramir was too different from book Faramir to me. I don/t think his character was given justice, but I did like David Wenham as Faramir.[/shadow]

Aargh- anyone from the Ringers is probably familiar with my feelings about PJ's interpretation of Faramir. Let's just say that they are not very happy feelings. Just about everything about him was wrong. I won't go into detail lest I be writing this post until 2:30 in the morning, but I really wish there was something I could do about the way he was portrayed. But, alas, I will have to settle for my own interpretation of my favourite character. Elen sila lumenn omentielvo, Lomadia

I think that the Movie Faramir was better in ROTK. I believe that they made him a little more negative in TTT.
I do not, however, believe they should have left him out... He is one of the most important people in the last two books, and I don't think they could have gotten any one of the other characters to take his place in some of the scenes that were supposed to be originally his.
