Forgive me if this has been posted or discussed before - (especially as it is from fellowship which was released some time back) - but i only recently noticed this -
as far as i can remember - in the books legolas is one (if not the only member) of the fellowship who doesn't smoke - and in PJ's films i cannot recall ever seeing him with a pipe. However in the "crebain from dunland" scene as legolas runs to the edge of the rock - he quite clearly exhales a lungful of smoke before he identifies the "cloud" as crebain. - i though at first the smoke may have been from gimli or gandalf but on subsequent viewings it defintely comes from legolas.
has anyone else spotted this/ have an explanation for it?

Are you sure it's smoke or is it his breath because it's cold outside?
That might be it, but I will have to look over that scene again to check it out.

yes i think you may be right there - now i look at it again it does disperse quite quickly - whereas smoke would probably hang around for a bit - i guess that particular part of the scene must have been shot later on than the rest perhaps (or maybe earlier), when it was colder - as that is the only time you can see anyones breath in that scene.

Ya, it probably was that it was cold; it was winter at the time, wasn't it?
