just to add something to that - i watched it again the other day - and realised one thing i really like about the bakshi version - it so laid back - unlike jacksons version where they speeded up all the timescales so it all seemed really urgent and quick - even though the urgency works in the jackson films it was always something i liked about the books and the bakshi film - they just a bit more relaxed and easy going.
also a couple of trivia points for you here - 1) aragorn was played by John Hurt (one of my favourite actors) - some of you young 'uns may not know of him (guy who gets alien coming out of his chest in "alien" - i can't remember anything else he's been in of the top of my head. 2) Legolas is played by Anthony Daniels, who i'm sure most of you don't need telling played C3PO in every Star wars film so far.

I've never seen the LOTR animated movie, but I did see Rankin/Bass The Hobbit and The Return of the King. I like them actually. ![:-[](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Hannah22/Fourm/blushy.gif) The LOTR cartoon looks a little corny by my standards, but, I've never seen it. So I can't talk. ![:-X](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Hannah22/Fourm/zipped.gif)

The Rankin/Bass RotK animated version was the first LOTR thing I ever saw. I didn't even know the title of the film back then becuase the pics were terrible and freaked me out as a kid. Who knew that I would become an LOTR freak?
How many animated LOTR movies are there?
