Curious as to which of Tolkien's books you have read and in what order?
I read The Hobbit first and then LotR and lastly The Silmarillion. Then a few years later I read Hobbit and LotR again. And then a few more years past and then I read the Sil again and LotR. Hobbit is the next book to reread on my list.
I also want to purchase the HoMe series (although that means saving my $$$).

I've only read the LOTR! And have just loved! Duh! If i didn't like, normaly, I wasn't here... I thought to read The Hobbit but a friend of mine told me that was boring... Maybe (or not) I will not listening to her opinion, and I will read the book.... I'm thinking in that...while i'm reading the Mists of Avalon (The first book).... I have time..... ![8-)](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Hannah22/Fourm/cool.gif)

hehe - i remember when i first started trying to read the silmarillion - crikey i must have read the first 50 pages about 10 times before i finally progressed further - but MAN WHAT A BOOK !! - i have to say - though i love lotr i think silmarillion is tolkiens crowning glory - i love lotr and as a linear story about friendship, environment and other themes close to my heart -it is great but the scope, depth and scale of the silmarillion just blows lotr out of the water - it does not surprise me that in that book is contained almost all of tokiens life work. my friends always semi disbelieve me when i say i many ways i prefer the silmarillion, but when they finally read it they have to agree too - so after that ramble my list reads FOTR - about 5 times TTT - same ROTK - same Silmarillion 3 times Unfinished tales: twice (plus many many leafing through bits especially the essay on the istari and the palantirs) Hobbit - erm i really don't know - i first read it about 11 yrs old and although i havn't read it in the last few years i lost count a while back. tree and leaf (smith of wootton major / homecoming of beorhtnoth) 2 times tales from perilous realm (recent print including adv. of tom bombadil - leaf by niggle s.o.w.m. and farmer giles of ham) 2 times tolkien related but not actual tolkien Tolkien: a biography (michael white) once Tolkien and the Great War - the threshold of middle earth (John Garth) once JRR Tolkien - author of the century (Tom Shippey)The complete guide to middle earth - (Robert foster) erm ... although not read cover to cover (it is not that sort of book) i have picked up this book more often than all of the others put together - definitely a very very useful book for those about to read - or reading the silmarillion/unfinished tales. oop! and not forgetting The Hobbit 3D Pop up book - illustrated by John Howe hehe i think i've read that twice ![:)](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Hannah22/Fourm/smiley.gif)

Wow, u people have done your reading. Ne ways, here's mine: The Hobbit - 2 (& once it was read 2 me) Fotr - 2 (& once it was read 2 me) TTT - 1 1/2 (& once it was read 2 me) Rotk - 0 (&once it was read 2 me) Silmarillion - 1/4 (& no, it was not read 2 me) What 1st got me into Lotr (incase u couldn't tell) is my dad read is 2 me & my sibs. If there is a movie made (or will b made) about books, we aren't aloud 2 c it until we have read the books. My parents were both huge fans of it, so of coarse, they made me a huge fan 2. ![:)](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Hannah22/Fourm/smiley.gif) (Oh, and I have Tolkien's World from A to Z, and as stated above, it's not a book. It's more of a dictionary.)

I just finished The Hobbit and I'm starting the LOTR (all 6) books from the begining.
I read the ending of book 4 and all of book 5 and 6 first (after watching the first 2 movies).
Isn't "The lion the witch and the wardrobe" a JRR Tolken book? Along with others in a series? If so, I read those in grade school.

The Chronicles of Narnia (which Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe is a part) is a CS Lewis book.
Tolkien and Lewis were very close friends and part of a little group called the Inklings.
