Shocked and dismayed by the lack of food the Hobbits did not know what to do to entertain their guests. With the sense of doom hanging thick and the lack of food. Depression was beginning to set in.

The others looked at Sam and was not sure what to think. Legolas stared long and hard out towards the east and said, "Sam is right, we must move soon. It is not safe here any longer. I sense a heavy weight upon the air."
Gimli gave Legolas a confused look and then said . . .
