Since Jack is otherwise occupied, I'll go:

No, neither the right person nor the right reason.

Okay, then it must be Gandalf. The others were bearers of Rings of Power. Please tell me I'm right.

Erm... you're not right... You do have the right person, though, so good on you for that. However, it's a different reason... And forgive me for correcting you, but Gandalf was a bearer of a Ring of Power- Narya, Ring of Fire.

Ah! So simple! The others are short people.

No, sorry... your answers are all better than the one I had in mind. The answer I'm looking for has to do with something that happened to all three of the others: Gollum in Mordor, Thrain at Dol Guldor, and Frodo at Cirith Ungol.

LOL- again, no, sorry. Were they all wounded by ringwraiths in those spots? I don't think so.

omg. forget this question. just tell me. i'm not seeing the connection here, frodo fought shelob at ungol, thrain was imprisoned and died at guldur, and gollum was tortured at mordor. so what?!

You're so close! But I'm seeming to frustrate you, so the answer is that Frodo, Thrain, and Gollum were all held prisoner by Sauron's forces, whereas Gandalf was held prisoner on Saruman's orders. And to be technical, Frodo never actually fought Shelob at Cirith Ungol; Sam did all the fighting. I'm sorry for being so pathetically bad at coming up with questions for this; you go next.
