Here's an interesting thought - what if the Balrog would have gotten hold of the Ring? What if the Balrog would have beaten the Fellowship in Moria and took the One Ring and also Gandalf's Ring?
Lots of speculation here.

nothing. he would've probably kept it until sauron took it back or he would've used it to be sauron, just exponentially more powerful. that's just my thoughts.

The Balrog would be the new ruler of Middle Earth.

Legolas - please explain your posts. Not just that you agree, etc, but why. I'm having such problems with pointless, few word posts.
Why do you think the Balrog would only be ruler for a while?

sorry about that.
anyway, sauron could never be defeated while the ring lasts. i highly doubt the balrog would destroy the ring. sauron will eventually find the ring. besides, the balrog would probably risk it in a battle and it would get lost anyway.

It would be terrible if any Balrog got ahold of the ring, like Gandalf said, but through him it would weild a great power of evil, so if it were in the hands of a balrog, it could destroy all of middle earth!

I think the Balrog with the Ring would be even worse than Sauron with it back. The Balrog would have Sauron's malice as well as its own evil.

This is a very interesting question. I think with the ring a Balrog would destroy Middle Earth and Sauron along with it. I think a Barlog would turn Middle Earth into a fiery hell and await the return of Morgoth. I don't believe the Balrog in Moria was acting on behalf of Sauron. In the books there is nothing to indicate this and it often calls The Nazgul Sauron's most terrible servants. If the Nazgul are Saurons most terrible servants than Balrogs weren't servants of Sauron or the Nazgul are more powerfull than Balrogs which doesn't seem likely.

From what I've gotten from the story, Balrog was more ancient and powerfull than anything Gandolf has ever encountered, but because of where he lived, he wasn't as much of a threat to middle earth as Sauron.
Plus as evil as Balrog was, he seemed content staying where he was and world domination didn't seem to be a top priority of his (otherwise he probably would have found a way out...)
I don't know if he was still powerfull enough to control the ring, and I think Sauron would have gotten Balrog's power (even if it was greater than Sauron's) through the ring, and the ring would have made Balrog a slave of Sauron's, making him the new "most powerful slave of Sauron".
Now if Balrog was more powerful than the ring, he might have used it to find the other rings and become even more powerful, and would then expand his world to eventually consume a great portion of Middle Earth...
Just my thoughts....

I think that the balrog would be much more powerful that souron, becuase without the ring, and without his orcs and Sauroman, what is Souron? He is weak. He is an eye, that's it. Now, the balrog even terified Legolas. And the balrog was just himself, with nothing to help him.

That's an interesting question... I never imagined that But I think that Sauron (obviously) would be looking for the Balrog to kill him just like he looked for Frodo in the true story of Tolkien. Besides that, I think there would be another adventure! The fellowship would try to get the Ring before Sauron, and then, destroy it like it is said in the books! (I still imagine Gandalf killing the Balrog... =P)

The power of Sauron is still stronger then that of a Balrog. He is an Maia, greatest of all, with a strong mind and will. Okeey he has put a lot of his power and strength into this ring, which he doesn't have at the moment and he also doesn't have a body anymore but his will remains. Gandalf didn't dared to confronte him, only aragorn did this witht he palantir, and he was truely a numorean, which are humans of great strength/will, and a sharp mind. I don't think that the Balrog is stronger then the power that Sauron has put into the ring, because you have to look towards howmany power sauron has put into the ring, and not to how many he still has at the moment.
