Totally speculating from what you know about Tolkien - what do you think he would have thought about the PJ's movies?
Remember to think things through and that people are only speculating here. Thanks

i think he'd like them because who wouldnt? theyre great movies, and they kept to all the themes and ideas of his books really well. I know if I were tolkien I'd be very satisfied.

From what I've heard, the Tolkein family seemed to be against the making of the movies, though I don't recall why. But, seeing as how they didn't own the rights cause JRR sold em to pay off bills or something when it was first published, they couldn't do anything but voice their opinions. So, maybe JRR himself would feel the same as his family does about the movies.

I seem to have read somewhere that Tolkien didn't think (or want) LotR made into a movie. He said (totally paraphrasing from memory) that he didn't think the book would translate well onto the big screen. I'll have to look it up - now to remember where. ![::)](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Hannah22/Fourm/eyeballs.gif)

Well if that was his reason, I hope he would have thought he was wrong when he saw them.

yeah. we're reading the hobbit in english and my teacher said that tolkien's son sold the rights (i accidentally typed rings before!) and the rest of the family was mad. i think that tolkien would've wanted less arwen (like most people i know), and more to explain stuff like gandalf did in one of the first chapters of fotr.

well also tolkien's time was before we had the technological advancements we have now, maybe in the 70s it wouldnt have made a good movie, but now there's a lot more you can do with movies.

even since you'd have to cut out some scenes to make it fit, i think tolkien would've hated arwen being given such a big role. i hate it, that's for sure ![>:(](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/Hannah22/Fourm/grumpy.gif)
